Foundation of Homeopathy: Homeopathy as a Medical System; Concept of the Life Force; Nature of Disease, Guiding Principles, Ethics

The first half of this lecture we’ll immerse ourselves into the foundational principles as developed by Hahnemann. We’ll discuss the patient as a singular entity, enlivened by their life force, which interacts directly with our medicines in a predictable and measurable manner. We’ll learn about symptoms, which are the language of the vital or life force, and how these symptoms indicate the seat of the disease and its development over the life of the patient. The types of symptoms and their relative importance to the homeopath will be thoroughly discussed. In the second half of this lecture, we will study the nature of disease through the mistunement of the life force, and how disease progresses from the barest sensation through several levels all the way to pathology. Acute and chronic diseases will be compared, as well as the miasms which underlie our ill-health. The foundational scientific principles of palliation, suppression and cure of disease with similar remedies will be discussed. Ethical practices for the practice of homeopathic medicine will be examined.
